SM City Bacolod has leveled up the shopping experience of Negrenses with the opening today, October 16, 2014, of the North Wing Expansion. Amounting to a total of P1.4 billion, the expansion will create more than 2,000 new jobs for the residents of Bacolod City and the province of Negros Occidental, revealed May Castro, SM Bacolod Public Relations Manager, in a press release.
This new section of the mall will house about 200 premium retail stores for both global and national brands, a bigger and better food court, a grand atrium and a Cyberzone, Castro added. But perhaps the most exciting addition is the 4,000-seater SMX Convention Center, which will be host to many big national and international events and exhibitions in the future.
With the new section, SM City Bacolod now has a gross area of 133,893 square meters, which is almost double the size of the original mall. Castro said that the mall expansion came about because of the investor confidence in the economic stability of Bacolod City as well as the emerging growth of neighboring towns.
Inside the expansion, the Cyberzone also opened today on the second floor. It will house more than 200 stores in relation to gadgets, technologies, and supplies.
Additionally, Oryspa Bacolod has also opened a booth on the ground floor near the SM Store entrance. Originally serving the city with natural rice bran-based products in their online store as well as in weekend bazaars, now Oryspa has a permanent home in the new SM expansion.
This is a really huge place to go around–a great boost to the economy of Bacolod and a delightful shopping experience to avid mall-goers. This is sure going to be next hit tambayan for the young and old alike because of the diverse mix of stores.
Congratulations, SM City Bacolod!
