Three years post-pandemic, events are back in Bacolod City and the entire province of Negros Occidental. The Mother of Festivals is once again being held in April and was launched with much fanfare at the Capitol Lagoon. Check out the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2023 schedule of activities below.
Panaad sa Negros Festival New Logo
It has been 3 years since Negros Occidental celebrated the Panaad sa Negros Festival so it is really time to bring things up a notch, starting with the festival logo. A province-wide logo-making contest was held in order to come up with a new emblem that will symbolize the festival as well as the province. It also symbolizes a fresh start for Negrosanons.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson said that never in history did the province experience so much adversity. First, there was the global COVID-19 pandemic–a health crisis that brought so much “economic and social distress.” Moreover, the year 2021 was welcomed by a devastating flood in Northern Negros that ended in Typhoon Odette ravaging Southern Negros.
It was indeed an “arduous path”, Gov. Lacson Said. But he attributed the rise of Negros Occidental this year to the “leadership and unity of public officials, the resilience of the people, the perseverance of the provincial government under our development agenda, Abanse Negrense. All these were greatly instrumental in our efforts to overcome.”
Moreover, he gave tribute to God, as he said that it was the people’s “faith in God’s grace and mercy that sustained us.”
Lin-ay Sang Negros Pageant
The 27 official candidates of the Lin-ay Sang Negros Pageant were presented to the public during the launch last March 14, 2023. They will have several events around the city leading to the pageant night, which will be held on April 21 at the Panaad Stadium.
