Nena’s Beth Chicken Inasal has been around since 1952. It is one of the original Bacolod chicken inasal outlets in the City of Smiles.
Bacolod Chicken Inasal
When you think of Bacolod Chicken Inasal, one woman’s name would come out from the tip of your tongue. That name would be Nena’s.

At present, there are so many variations for the second name, but the first name remains — Nena’s. It’s like a byword, as if any branch that carries that name is synonymous to original, authentic, and delicious Bacolod Chicken Inasal.
Nena’s Beth Chicken Inasal
But the original, Nena’s Beth Chicken Inasal remains strong. The descendants of the original owner, Antonina Velez Bolonia, have kept the legacy going by opening up new branches outside of the Manokan Country.
And one of the newest players is the one opened by a granddaughter and her husband at the Food Central, Lacson St., Mandalagan, Bacolod City. Good food in a nice place.
Arjie Yelo and wife Kleszabeth Baker, a Bolonia granddaughter, decided to put up their own branch of Nena’s Beth Chicken Inasal at the Food Central. This venture is in partnership with Arjie’s sister, Laiza, and is located in the newest open air food court in Bacolod City.
Different Chicken Parts
In Bacolod City, the whole chicken is made use and cooked as chicken inasal. We even grill chicken feet and heads. Yep, nothing is wasted around here!
They offer our favorite Bacolod Chicken Inasal in paa (leg), pecho (breast), pecho-pak (breast with wings), pakpak (wings), and skewered innards. These include atay (liver), baticolon (gizzard), corazon (heart), bul-o (fat) and isaw (intestines). They also have the =isol (backside)
The chicken inasal are skewered and displayed for customers to choose from. Then these are grilled over a charcoal pit for that special smoked open grill flavor. The aroma of chicken being grilled will titillate your nostrils from a couple of hundred meters off.
More than Chicken Inasal
But since this branch of Nena’s Beth is a new partnership involving more people, there are also more ideas and menu innovations. They can give you more than just our favorite Bacolod chicken inasal.
Nena’s Beth Chicken Inasal at Food Central also serves other Pinoy favorites like cansi soup, fried lumpia, and their very own chicken sisig. Additionally, they have rellenong bangus that’s really affordable and so yummy! And of course, steamed talaba (oysters) are also part of their menu.
You will also like the fact that they have found ceramic dinnerware and serving dishes with native design. They are no longer using woven baskets and banana leaves, so the dishes are more sanitary because they can be washed more effectively. But still, you get the native Pinoy feel while dining using your hands.
Moreover, they also have different homemade desserts. But if you want more, check out my list of the top desserts in Bacolod.
So if you want more than just chicken inasal, they have something more for you.
Food Central
While Manokan Country is the most famous Bacolod Chicken Inasal haunt in the City of Smiles, we like the ambiance at Food Central. There are six other Bacolod restaurants here, each with their own specialties.
But what we like is that, this place has its own enclosure so it’s rather safe. Additionally, there are ample parking lots in front of the restaurants as well as at the back.
So if you haven’t been to this area, visit Food Central, beside Ikthus Church in Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Bacolod Pasalubong
If you are not from Bacolod City, ask them, too, how you can bring home Nena’s Beth Chicken Inasal as Bacolod pasalubong. They have a way to do that so that you can bring back the flavors of Bacolod with you. Ask them how they can package it for you.
