The Tree Planting Activity Initiated by Guardians of the Environment

The activity, held last Sunday, September 29, 2024, was spearheaded by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP). It is part of the IBP’s continuing advocacy that they dubbed as, “Justice For Environment.”

Employees from Negros Power joined the Guardians of the Environment in the tree-planting event, which was also attended by Municipal Vice Mayor Nehemiah Joe Dela Cruz.

Atty. Gerry Llena, President of the IBP in Negros Occidental, expressed gratitude to Negros Power for being one of the major sponsors of the activity.

All in all, over 500 individuals from various organizations, government employees, institutions, and Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the province participated in the tree-planting event.

Over 2,000 trees were planted by all the participants, with species that include Almaciga, Bacan, Narra, and Acacia species.

This activity is one of the programs undertaken by Negros Power as a commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of natural resources.

It can be remembered that Negros Power has not yet fully taken over the distribution utility because their Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has not been granted yet. This means that it has not started implementing its 5-year rehabilitation plan for Bacolod City and Central Negros. Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop them from caring about the community they are going to serve.
