Students learned about the different renewable energy sources and their counterparts at the 1st Renewable Energy Week held in Bacolod City.

Negros Power Joins 1st Renewable Energy Week in Negros Occidental

The 1st Renewable Energy Week of Negros Occidental celebration was opened to the public at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod City and was participated in by different players in energy generation and distribution.

With climate change and the energy crisis, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson is bullish about utilizing renewable energy sources for the province. Last February 2024, the governor launched SecuRE Negros to institutionalize the mobilization of the shift to renewable energy and achieve power security. Last week, the 1st Renewable Energy Week celebration was opened to the public and was participated in by different players in energy generation and distribution.

The 1st Renewable Energy Week

Energy stakeholders, government officials, and agencies attended the 1st Renewable Energy Week and Expo Inaugural Launch at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central Event Center in Bacolod City.

The expo showcased different renewable energy sources, particularly solar energy and suppliers.

Negros Power in Full Support

Meanwhile, Negros Power joins the first Renewable Energy Week with its Experience Booth. Visitors were treated to an interactive diorama powered by an app that showcases various sources of renewable energy. Their conventional counterparts were also illustrated. The company’s mascot, Nong Moroy, was also featured for the first time in Bacolod City

Nong Moroy’s first public appearance in Negros Occidental. He gave out prizes to the visitors who joined in a simple game.

The exhibit was open to the public last May 20-22, 2024.

Negros Power will soon take over as the distribution utility for Bacolod City and the rest of Central Negros. The company is rapidly working so that they can start the rehabilitation work at the soonest possible time.
