This month, Negros Power is spreading holiday cheer for the Christmas season with a welcome decrease in electricity rates for its consumers. This is the merriest news for all everyone in Bacolod City and Central Negros!

Negros Power Announces Lower Electricity Rates

Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC or Negros Power), the new Central Negros distribution utility, announced that December billings for residential customers would reflect a rate of P11.18 per kilowatt hour. This is a decrease of 82 centavos per kWh compared to last month.

This means that a household with an average monthly consumption of 200 kWh will save almost P164 on their electricity bill. The easement will provide a little extra for holiday spending.

“We are pleased to pass on these savings to our customers during this special time of year,” said Mr. Roel Z. Castro, President and Chief executive Officer of Negros Power.

The rate reduction is attributed to a decrease in the traded blended generation rates from power suppliers at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). Yes, you read it right. When Negros Power encounters “discounts” from the energy market, it passes the rate reduction to its consumers.

The Distribution System and Metering charge remains at P1.18/kWh, which covers Negros Power’s costs as a distribution utility.

This rate reduction is a welcome gift for Negros Power customers, offering a little extra holiday cheer and providing some financial relief during the festive season.

“We are committed to providing our customers with affordable and reliable power,” Castro added. “We will continue to work hard to ensure that our customers enjoy the benefits of a stable and efficient power system.”
