The Lin-ay sang Negros is a local beauty pageant that might as well be considered the highlight of the Panaad sa Negros Festival celebration. Every year, the epitome of the Babaying Negrosanon is picked, based on beauty, wit, and purpose. It is participated in by muses representing the different cities and municipalities of the Province of Negros Occidental, Philippines.
The Lin-ay Sang Negros Beauty Pageant
Just as the Panaad sa Festival is called the Mother of Festivals, the Lin-ay sang Negros pageant is the biggest of all in the Province of Negros Occidental. It is usually held during the week-long festivities at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
In this pageant, all 32 cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental are given the chance to field their representatives. These young ladies are mostly the queens of their respective cities or municipalities the year prior and are sent by their local government unit to vie for the most coveted crown.
Unlike other beauty pageants, the ladies do not only compete for beauty, elegance, charm, and wit. They also stand as their LGU’s ambassadress to the festival, showcasing, their landmarks, tourist attractions, and products. Moreover, they also showcase their culture through the colorful Festival Costumes competition, which is a big part of the pageant.
