PET plastic bottles become a bane of society during any special event that draws crowds. Not everyone brings reusable plastic bottles. The MassKara Festival 2024 of Bacolod City is no exception. And sadly, many throw their disposable plastic bottles everywhere. Coca-Cola Philippines, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Bacolod City Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), is driving awareness of PET plastic bottle segregation and collection at the 45th MassKara Festival. This will take place from October 11-27, 2024 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
PET Plastic Bottle Segregation and Collection for the 45th MassKara Festival
In collaboration with waste management firm Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST, Inc.) and the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, Coca-Cola Philippines aims to engage festival-goers in responsible waste management practices by segregating and collecting used PET plastic bottles.
Coca-Cola Philippines will support bottle collection and segregation awareness by encouraging festival attendees to drop off their empty PET bottles at the Coca-Cola bottle counter and exchange booths located at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
Moreover, festival attendees can use plastic bottles and caps to participate in games and activities like Dunk, Not Junk shooting hoops, bottle counter photo booth, and bottle exchange booth for Coca-Cola products and other exciting prizes.
Look for the Bins and Dispose PET Bottle Properly
Coca-Cola Philippines, in collaboration with BENRO and BEST, Inc, will also set up PET plastic bottle segregation and collection bins at key locations across Masskara Festival activity centers, and in food and beverage retail stands located in the main festival streets and thoroughfares.
Additionally, street sweepers will be deployed to collect segregated PET plastic bottles and other waste generated during the festival, helping ensure cleanliness throughout the two-week-long festivities.
All collected PET plastic bottles are sent to PETValue Philippines, the country’s largest bottle-to-bottle recycling facility.
