Young basketball aspirants get to train with the best
at the Alaska Basketball Powercamp 2017 in Bacolod
A total of 211 kids and teens joined the 3rd Alaska Basketball Powercamp 2017 here in Bacolod City. The event ran from April 17 to 25 and was held at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School.
The 2017 basketball program under the Alaska Power Camp is a 10-day rigorous training activity supervised by Alaska Basketball Camp Director Jeffrey Cariaso. He is a retired professional basketball player who used to play for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Now, he is the assistant coach of the Alaska Aces team. He is also the representative of the Alaska Basketball Power Camp in the Jr. NBA partnership. As camp director, Cariaso is tasked to oversee the manner, operation, program design, staffing, and equipment requirements for the entire duration of the camp around the country.
Alaska Basketball Power Camp 2017
The 10-day Alaska Basketball Power Camp 2017 happens during the school’s summer vacation and is open to both boys and girls ages six to 18. Here in Bacolod City, only one girl joined the camp–the 7-year-old Jillian because of an older brother who is also into the program. This girl rocks!
There will be a total of seven basketball camps in major cities in the country, simultaneously running from April 1 to June 11, 2017. Training is from 8am to 11am on specified dates. The camps this year are in Quezon City, Subic, Lucena, Batangas, Baguio, Bacolod, and Cebu.
In Manila, the registration fee is P4,000 in cash, or the participant may show proof of purchase in the same amount. For provincial participants, the rate is P2,500 (cash or purchase). Participants get a reversible jersey and basketball and a bag of Alaska products. Discounts are also given to Power camp returnees, early birds, and groups.
