They used to be known as Saigon Garden Cafe at Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City. But this year, they moved to a newer, bigger, and better location and they are now known as Rau-Ram Cafe.
This November, Rau-Ram Cafe is celebrating three blessed years–continuing success in everything that they do. And now, in time for their anniversary and for Thanksgiving, they have added six new exciting dishes to their menu. Meet them all!
1. Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (Rice Noodles Salad with Grilled Pork and Fried Egg Rolls)
This is everybody’s favorite rice noodle and vegetable salad but this time, it is topped with some fried egg rolls.
2. Ga Nuong (Vietnamese Grilled Chicken)
I am not a chicken eat (Bacolod chicken inasal excluded) but this one caught my fancy. Despite being grilled, it does not come off as burned on the outside. It looks crisp but it is actually tender and juicy on the inside. And I love it that they only serve the leg to thigh part. hehe
3. Cha Gio (Fried Egg Rolls)
Rau-Ram has developed this ground pork roll wrapped in Vietnamese rice wrappers and deep fried. So tasteful and for me, it goes well when dipped in their red hot chili sauce.
4. Goi Buoi (Pomelo Salad)
This interesting salad is served seasonally–whenever pomelo is available from their suppliers. Rau-Ram only gets from a single supplier to make sure that they only get the sweetest variety so as not to sacrifice the taste. The pomelo salad is served with slices of cucumber, carrots, grilled pork, peanuts, lettuce, and of course, large chunks of pomelo in a mild sweet and salty sauce. So healthy and filling!
5. Ca Kho To (Catfish in Caramel Sauce)
Enjoy the tender, fatty goodness of catfish in this mildly sweet dish served with a vegetable siding that I forgot to take a picture of. OMG it melts in the mouth! But be careful about the bones. Catfish is a “bony” kind of fish so make sure that you have removed them all before you get lost in its melt-in-the-mouth goodness.
6. Tom Rang Mi (Shrimp in Tamarind Sauce)
Hubby and I love both shrimp and I love the distinct sweet and and sour taste of the tamarind sauce on this dish. Had to lick each shrimp. haha This was a hit for both of us.
7. Shrimp in Spicy Plum Sauce
Another shrimp variant, this one is also sweet with a hint of hotness. Still very good. Another hit. The more the merrier when it comes to shrimp. haha
What I like about Vietnamese food is that they are served with lots of vegetables and they are prepared the healthy way. So filling and so healthy, too.
Congratulations Rau-Ram Cafe on your third anniversary! More years to come! 😀
