Seldom would we find a Bacolod restaurant
that is passionate about making healthy dishes
as Sir Jess Deli and Restaurant.
Last time, I wrote about SIR JESS DELI AND CAFE BACOLOD and how they are Educating the Palate for Healthy Food Options. And now, they already celebrated their second anniversary recently with more dishes and more Bacolod pasalubong items for everyone.
Sir Jess Deli still offers the dishes you have come to love — fried quail, patotim, sizzling mixed seafood, fried eggplant, and whole fried oregano chicken, but they also added banana nachos (yes, that’s banana chips with dressing) and calzone on the menu. They now also have flourless cakes, which my health-conscious daughter totally enjoys.
We especially loved the banana nachos with its thick creamy, cheesy dip and chopped cabbage. The calzone is also flavorful, though we just remove the vinegar dressing on top. Aside from meals and short orders, they also have a turo-turo fast food counter for those who do not have time to wait.
And as usual, healthy drinks at Sir Jess Deli and Restaurant are bottle calamansi juice or oregano-mansi juice with honey.
Sir Jess Bacolod Pasalubong
Aside from their delicious healthy, slow-cooked, farm to table dishes, Sir Jess Deli also has pasalubong items, like Orega Flakes, Pinitaw (a.k.a. bottled quail), Organic Sara-Sara Rice Coffee, and most of all, their healthy herb-flavored Piaya. Yes, our city is known for Bacolod piaya, but this time, this flaky pastry is given a twist by the infusion of herbs to make it a healthier alternative. They only use high-grade muscovado sugar plus organic herbs that they produce in their garden. My personal favorite is Basil-Pesto Piaya! For the win! These innovations have passed the screenings of the One Town One Product (OTOP) — a promotional program of the government under the Department of Budget and Management. These are available at the restaurant and at the Negros Showroom of the Association of Negros Producers.
