Covid-19 is real. We have seen and felt the effects of this mutated coronavirus. All sectors, big and small, are badly affected. We race against time and resources, as we have never anticipated this global pandemic. Here in the Bacolod City, a group of young designers put their brains, creativity, and resources together to provide much-needed protective gear for our healthcare workers. Dubbed the PPE for Negros Occidental, they aim to produce more protective gear for our health workers so that they can properly go into battle against Covid-19.
Who is Behind the PPE for Negros Healthcare Workers Campaign
The PPE for Negros Healthcare Workers was started by Bacolod wedding suppliers. All their plans and events have been cancelled but they have resources. They have their endless creativity as well as manpower that have been suddenly displaced by all the cancelled events.

How Donations Will Be Used
The supplies are needed for the protection and safety of the healthworkers. Related: Globe Gives P5M Help to Frontliners from Globe Rewards. These are just some of them:
- Surgical face masks
- N95 face masks
- Clean gloves
- Supplies like bleach, alcohol, hand sanitizers, soap
- Raincoats
- Face shields
- Food
- Vitamin supplements – Vitamin C, Multivitamins
And these will be for the use of ourn medical frontliners. Among them are doctors, nurses, medical technologies, respiratory therapists, and other health team members. Additionally, they have allocated supplies for other community workers, such as policemen, army personnel, security guards, and janitors in hospitals.
They need medical supplies and PPEs because there are not enough to go around. So our health workers are inadequate to protect themselves as they serve the community.
Even our firefighters provide their own protective gear. Read more: Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade Disinfects Bacolod City Streets

Sponsor a Frontliner
The Sponsor a Frontliner is a collective effort of Bacolod designers as well as some local businessmen. In this campaign, it’s sponsors giving out funds to provide the complete PPE for a single frontliner. Some of those who have already donated are:
- Kat Padilla Atelier
- Sepia Designs
- House of Chrome
- Team Acids by Rodney Ascalon
- Ysabelle’s Bridals
- Get Spotted
- Simply Special Wedding and Events
- SKT Digital Productions
- The Indigo Strokes
- Dropshop Laundry and Services
The group is making makeshift faceshields and donating raincoats as standard, medical-grade PPEs are now impossible to procure.
A Good Move from the Private Sector
Our medical and community frontliners badly need help from the private sector. We cannot beat Covid-19 without them and they cannot work for us if we do not help them.
PPE for Negros is asking for donations of medical supplies such as surgical masks, gloves, raincoats, money, and even food.
Let’s give our Negrense frontliners what they need to fight this battle well.
About the PPEs
The PPE, short for personal protective equipment, are made by the staff employed by Bacolod designers headed by Kat Padilla. They use non-woven materials and parachute.
Meanwhile, the group keeps listing down public hospitals and the staff in Negros Occidental. They include ranks as well as exposure to possible Covid-19 patients. That way, they are able to distribute the PPEs to all frontliners who need them the most.
These are our modern-day heroes. People who work tirelessly and shell out personal funds to help fight Covid-19. They are not after recognition or popularity–they just want to be able to share their expertise and resources that are crucial as we all battle this dreaded virus. God bless you PPE for Negros! We will heal as one!
P.S. A free supplement that will help us fight Covid-19 is sunlight. Sun exposure in the early morning hours help stimulate the production of Vitamin D in our bodies. Read more: Forti-D Vitamin D Supplement for Better Health
