My City My SM My Art Bacolod 2017
In celebration Philippine visual arts and our very own Filipino visual artists, SM Supermalls has been organizing the event called “My City, My SM, My Art” all around the country where there is an SM Mall.
And this week, the event has made a stopover in the City of Smiles — Bacolod! The My City My SM My Art Bacolod 2017 was launched last September 16, 2017. SM City Bacolod celebrated with the art community in honoring ten (10) spectacular visual artists who are using various media. The Bacolod artists honored were masters, modernists, and millennials.
The launch featured the four pillars of art in Bacolod, namely, Nunelucio Alvarado, Charlie Co, Rodney Martinez, and Rafael Paderna. Samples of their works are the main attractions in the exhibit at the north wing of the mall until September 22.
Other visual artists who were celebrated during the launch were Master Artist Dennis Ascalon, Film Artist Manny Montelibano, mixed media artist Faye Abantao, illustrator Daryl Feril, Metal sculptor Moreen Austria, and Terracotta Artist Susanito Sarnate.
SM City Bacolod also honored the La Consolacion College (LCC) Bacolod’s School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Interior Design for their contribution to building the arts in the city.
LCC Students and mentors honored at the event.I would just like to mention that the special video presentation celebrating the artists was hosted by the Kara Leonardia, daughter of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia. She is also a budding visual artist herself.
My City, My SM, My Art thanks its partners, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila for curation, Shell Philippines, the Philippine Star, NCCA and Centerstage Productions. The featured artists’ works are contained in an exhibition and Art House at the Main Atrium of SM City Bacolod north wing. Exhibition will run until September 22.
