Shrouded in age-old trees and surrounded by a serene pond, an all-day breakfast menu at Punong Gary’s Place in Silay City sounds like the perfect idea.
Punong Gary’s Place is not just a mere Silay restaurant but a premier dining destination in Negros Occidental. They have been in business for five years now, opening only at night and on weekends and only accepting guests who have prior reservations.
Due to their limited supply of their organic natural ingredients as well as their distance to the city, they cannot just accept walk in diners who are out on whim. And this is understandable, as they also want to deliver the best quality food with the proper service.
All-Day Breakfast Menu at Punong Gary’s Place
On their fifth year, owner Joey Benin thought it was high time to expand their horizons. If you remember, Joey used to be a member of the Side A band and the composer of the legendary love song, Forevermore. He has since retired from the limelight to focus on family, farming, cooking, and helping the community.
Together with his son Jaco, they cooked up additional items in the menu that will be available all day. While reservations are still needed to secure seats there, at least, there are more ala carte choices than the course dinners they usually serve.
One of the highlights of the new offerings would be the all-day breakfast at Punong Gary’s Place.
They have every comfort food in there, including corned beef belly, tapang durog, and crispy beef flakes. Additionally, they have homemade bangus sardines, fish and chips, smoked bangus, sisig bangus belly, and crispy pork kawali. All of these are served with toast, homemade hash brown, or garlic/scallion fried rice.
Expanded All-Day Menu
Aside from their all-day breakfast menu, Punong Gary’s Place is now serving soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, and pasta. We super love their seafood pasta and chicken paninini.
Furthermore, they have their own version of the Ilonggo batchoy. It’s what my husband calls a “leveled up batchoy” with chicharon. It’s so yummy and rich! We could not pinpoint what makes the difference, but this is one you should really try.
Reasonable Prices
While Punong Gary’s Place had been known for their fine course menus where P850 per head is the minimum, the ala carte meals are surprisingly affordable. For the ambiance and the relaxation that you get, the meals are worth it.
Please also bear in mind that this is a social enterprise. A portion of each meal served at Punong Gary’s Place benefits members of surrounding communities. Same is true for their overnight accommodations. They are supporting the Clean and Green Project of the Takas Youth Community.
This project uses biodegradable materials into organic fertilizers like vermicompost. The fertilizers then go to the organic farmers who grow and supply the produce used at Punong Gary’s Place.
Events and Overnight Stay
With its rustic and natural charm, Punong Gary’s Place is a lovely backdrop for garden weddings and other special events. Pre-nup pictorials are also allowed. Package rates for venue use are offered.
Guests may also want to try an overnight stay in this exclusive place. They have casitas that are available for P8,500 per night and it’s good for two. A casita can have a maximum of four occupants, but it’s P1,000 per additional person. The overnight stay is inclusive of breakfast and use of their facilities.
Punong Gary’s Place also facilitates airport shuttle service, Silay heritage tour, and other activities around Negros island.
